Advanced Pilot Certification Pathway

The Advanced pathway unlocks controlled airspace, flying near people, and professional operations.

Step 1: Complete the free Advanced Operations Exam Prep course Enroll at academy.rpascentre.com/course/advanced-exam-prep. You can skip the Basic course and start here directly.

Step 2: Earn your RPAS Centre Advanced Certificate Receive your RPAS Centre Course Completion Certificate by email after finishing.

Step 3: Take the Transport Canada Advanced Exam

50 multiple-choice questions, 60-minute time limit
Pass mark: 80% (40 out of 50)
Results are immediate; retake after 24 hours if needed

Step 4: Complete the free Drone Flight Review Training course Enroll at academy.rpascentre.com/course/flight-review-prep

Step 5: Book and pass an Advanced Operations Flight Review Find a certified reviewer at rpaswilco.com/#/flight-review/map

Step 6: Pay the Transport Canada certificate fee Apply through the Drone Management Portal.

What can you do with an Advanced certificate? Everything Basic allows, plus:

Controlled airspace (with NAV CANADA permission)
Within 3NM of airports, 1NM of heliports
Less than 30m from people
Medium drones (25–150kg)
EVLOS and sheltered operations

Flight Reviewer Affiliation (if 6+ months with Advanced cert)
